December 30, 2009: The end is near.

Well 2009 is almost over. The challenge is almost over...and well it wasn't as successful as I had hoped it would be. I guess it's documented proof that I tried. There's one more week left, I'll let you know if anything exciting happens.

December 29, 2009: Much better.

I'm back in to the groove again. I got two long doggy walks in an did a good job on what I ate. It's really easy to get off track...the key is to not stay off track! The eating splurges do add up over time. But if I can make more exercise splurges, one day, the scale should tip in my favor, right?

December 28, 2009: Oh the Snow!

Today is SNOWY. It snowed all day, on and off. 3+ inches. I did get my walks in, but they were not too long b/c it was freezing cold. I did shovel the driveway for 30 min! I vow to get back on my running schedule soon!

December 26, 2009: Only one more holiday to survive this year!

Day after Christmas, things start to slow down, right? Well they have. I'm done shopping and wrapping gifts. Now it's more of a regular eating/living/sleeping schedule. Who am I kidding! I'm still planning on doing a lot of sleeping, but hopefully I can squeeze a few trips into the gym in. I'm seriously considering just getting myself an elliptical.

December 25, 2009: Santa brought lots of presents!

Santa stopped by last night. Lots great gifts and fun with the family...and of course, Lasagna! It was all so yummy and hard to resist. I have no problem with getting the exercising in, but we had cold freezing rain most of the day...not so desirable for outdoor exercising.

December 23, 2009: Baking for the Holidays

These next few days will put me in close contact with baked goods and sweets! What a dangerous time of the year. I have no problems eating that stuff and working out more, I just have to remember to work out more. Maybe I should put an Elliptical machine in front of the TV, that way to get the best view, you have to work out! Needless to say, I don't yet have that Elliptical machine...so I pounded the cookies and didn't work out as much as needed.

December 19, 2009: A weekend in Athens!

I just love my college town. It was the best four years of my life. Great food, great friends, great bars...always nice to go back and visit. And...it has been snowing constantly non-stop continuously all day! While this makes the scenery look super pretty, makes it difficult to get a workout in. C'est La Vie!

December 17, 2009: Traveling again!

Today begins the second round of hectic travels in December. This time Bella and I are flying. Tim couldn't find me a parking spot so I had to check the dog and me in for our flight. It was quite the sight, lots of suitcases and bags, me holding the leash and trying to build a kennel all at once! Luckily Bella is the best dog ever! I just set up her bed and she laid on it, constantly wagging her tails, while I built her travel kennel. The Frontier agent said she was better behaved than most children they let on the plane. As we proceeded  to security for the dog, the second Frontier agent said she remembers Bella from last year...I guess my dog flies too often if people are able to recognizer her!

In terms of traking my food, I've done a pretty good job. I'd give myself a solid B+ for effort. I'm glad my iPhone has a calorie tracker to help me out. However, I'm not seeing much of any results. Maybe I need the 20 week challenge or the boot camp version.

I'm doing better at staying close to target for my calories and doing my best at squeezing in my exercising. I need to make exercising a priority to make sure it happens. It's just difficult, no on said it would be easy. It was easy back in the day (when mom did the cooking)...if I could only get back to that same high school body!

December 10, 2009: Day 1 Apartment Hunting...and It doesn't look good!

I had a physical this morning.I think it went well. They will mail me the results once they get them. They also concluded I was drunk or high during the test. Then I moved on to searching for an apartment. I was ready to not take this job after viewing a few sets of apartments....they were worse than undergraduate conditions and super expensive! This could be a super hard transitions.

December 8, 2009: Last day walking doggies!

Today was my last day volunteering at the Longmont Humane Society walking doggies, and boy was it chilly! Around 10 F in the morning. Brrrr! I did get in my long walk with Bella, but no running again. With temperature between -10 and 10 F, I just don't think it's the best idea to try to run outside. How many calories can you burn by shivering? Hopefully next week we'll be back up in the 40s, more reasonable for running.

December 6, 2009: Oh the weather outside is frightful

It appears to me that Weeks 4 and 5 have not been so sucessful. Today it snowed all day and was around 10 F...a little too chilly and icy to be running. A gym would be a good options, but seeing as I'm moving in a month, there is no point in joining for 30 days, when I should be packing! I hope things start to improve.

December 2, 2009: On the roll again.

Looks like things are continuing to get better. My daily food in-take is back under control and I've been able to keep up with my exercising. The weather is getting chillier, which might make it harder to get my runs in (i.e. hard to breathe), but it shouldn't be a problem for the walks. I'm considering buying the Bodybugg system to keep track of calories burned (once I get a job), but I think I need more help keeping track of what I eat not burn.

November 29-30, 2009: Long drive Part 2

We began our trek back to Colorado. It's hard to eat healthy when you are trying to stay awake and drive for 27 hrs straight. So I didn't do that well. Not to mention, it's hard to excercise in a truck. You might call it all excuses, which they are, however, sometimes life just doesn't let you have it easy.
