November 27, 2009: Black Friday!

Today was a day of lots of shopping. I didn't get up early as in past years, but earlier enough to find what I wanted. Most places didn't really have that great of deals! On the positive note, I completed two dog walks and a lot of walking while shopping, helping to burn off some of the turkey calories. I'm contemplating buying the bodybug system...I just hope it isn't a waste of money.

November 26, 2009: Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Turkey Day! Gobble gobble gobble! Well today was a day of eating lots of yummy food. I did manage to get my two walks and a run in, so that was good. My calculations showed that I was just slightly over my calorie budget, but I'm sure that was an underestimate. I really didn't eat that much, but I'm sure I was over budget. I think I just need to increase my working out. Life is definitely going to get really busy in the near future, but I hope to make exercise a priority.

Novermber 25, 2009: Whoopsies!

Looks like I ate a lot today...I guess I was in the mood. Hopefully after this week I can makeup for it.?!/. I think I need an excel spreadsheet to keep track of my numbers, rather than just a food diary, to see if my excess calories total up to 3,500 calories in one week. Those numbers would surely explain the weight gain...

November 23, 2009: Some sprinkling rain

It looks like snow could be heading this way, in fact today it drizzeled all day! However, I was able to get my exercising in. Today marks the begining of week 4. I think I've done an above average job at staying under 1800 calories of food and walking/running for 45 min a day, even with that, I haven't observed any weight loss. It's possible that I'm under estimating my caloric in-take, but I don't think it's been so underestimated that I haven't observed any weight loss. This I don't understand! Maybe I'll see more results by week 8?

November 21, 2009: The long drive

Since Friday at 3pm MST, I've been sitting in a truck, doing a lot of driving! This means, not so easy to exercise, but I tried to minimize my endless snacking. It's hard though, when the road is sooo boring and it's dark, alll I want to do is eat!

I also feel like my calorie in-take estimates might be a little off, however, I'm not going to carry around measuring cups and spoons. This will just have to do!

November 11, 2009: Hump Day

Today's progress was great! I got a lot of exercise in during a gorgeous weather day. I'd better enjoy it because it looks like wet snow will be here this weekend...so I'd best eat better during the week. I took two extra long walks with the dog to drop off/pick up my car from getting work done, and managed to motivate myself to do a 2 mile run! I hope this momentum keeps up.

November 10, 2009: Week 2 Day 2

Some days it appears like it's easy to stay on target. For me, I think as long as I keep up with my exercise, I can keep the net calories under controll. Controlling what I eat is the hardest because I'm often tempted to load up on sugar. It just tastes sooo good! With all my spare unemployed time, I think I'll be able to maintain my exercising at a good level. It will get difficult with an upcoming move and new job because my exercise time will be hard to fit in and I'm bound to just eat what ever is most convenient. What I should do is make 'healthy' foods the most convenient foods so that while exercising might decrease, my calories eaten won't incase, but that will be hard! I guess I'll face that challenge when it arrives. In the mean time, I'll focus on keeping up with my excercising and hoping to see some weight improvement before the crazy life begins!

November 8, 2009: Thanksgiving Round 1

My neighbors had an early Thanksgiving dinner....which means lots of good food. And...I still have another Thanksgiving to eat at later this month. The good news is that I did ok with the caloric in-take. On the other hand, I didn't make the time for the exercise. One out of two isn't bad. I did make it out for one walk. Maybe tomorrow I'll just make it an extra long walk to make up for it.

Well on day 4 I ran into a batch of sugar cookies...a weakness. It happens, and at least I enjoyed the cookies! It didn't push me over the edge for the calories eaten...well it doesn't seem that way. But I'm sure it will bite in the butt soon enough! Maybe I just miscalculated for the day.

November 4, 2009: Day 3 and Still Moving,

Day 3 is coming to a close and the motivation still exists! That's a plus. I even managed to run 2 full miles today and my mile time has dropped from 14 min to 12 min (+/- 30 sec) during the past two months. I think it has to do with the new shoes. The hot pink makes me go faster. :)



Those are some sharp, fast looking shoes! What a great birthday present. While there was positive increases in excercise...there was a quick run to Wendy's for dinner that put me over the calorie goals...oh well! It happens. I'll keep trying!

November 3, 2009: Day 2

Well I pretty much survived Day 2, so that is good news. At least I can keep it up for two days in a row....but there was a run in with a tub of frosting. That is what pushed me up to the 1800 calorie mark, if I guestimated my servings correctly. I'm also thinking of trying a cookie/cake decorating hobby which increases my exposure to major temptations. My first batch of sugar cookies with decorative frosting, kind of bombed. The recipe didn't work out, the cookies were pale, the frosting looked horrid, but in the end the cookies were edible. I think I need a lot more practicing.

November 2, 2009: The 10 lbs in 10 wks Challenge

Hello and Welcome to my Blog!!

Lose 10 lbs in 10 Weeks! That's the challenge.


That's the goal, to increase exercise (walking/running) and decrease caloric intake to lose 10 lbs in 10 weeks. We'll see how it goes. I'm using a blog as a means to keep me on track and record my progress...or lack of progress. I'll try to write daily or as often as I can. The joy of unemployment is I should be able to find the time, right?

Caloric goals: 1800, my goal is to keep my caloric food intake under 1800 calories. I think 1500 calories/day would be to stressful. If I can keep with the 1800, maybe I can decrease for the last 5 weeks of the challenge.
Exercise goals: I have a suggested walking plan to follow, but I think I'm going to stick to 2 dog walks/day (50 min) and run at least 1 mile every day that I can (12 min). That pretty much covers all the walking that the program is suggesting. I could start at a higher level of the walking program, but I don't want to set myself up for failure. I'll be more motivated to continue if I am successful at this level. Maybe I'll increase my running during the later half of the challenge.
